Why it matters

Why give certificates with Knola

A certificate maker gives you a file to send. A certificate service is another subscription to connect. In Knola the certificate is part of the course, so it knows what your student actually did.

Checklist

What to put on a course completion certificate

Eight things employers, licensing boards and your students look for. The certificate maker does the first seven. The last is what makes a certificate checkable.

  1. 1Who issued itYour school or business name, and your logo.
  2. 2What it is“Certificate of Completion”, “of Achievement” or “of Attendance”.
  3. 3The student’s full nameAs they’ll want it on their CV.
  4. 4The course title and the dateThe date they finished, not the date you sent it.
  5. 5What it tookHours, CPD hours or credits beside the date, or an exam score in the line under their name.
  6. 6A signatureDrawn or uploaded, with the signer’s name and title.
  7. 7Accreditation, if you have itThe body and your provider number, in the small print.
  8. 8A certificate number and a way to check itA unique number and a QR code to a page that confirms it. This is the part a free maker can’t give you.In Knola, on every plan

Questions

Is the certificate maker free?
Yes. Make as many certificates as you like and download them as PDFs or PNGs. No sign-up, no card and no watermark.
Do you keep my logo or signature?
No. Your logo, signature and words stay in your browser. Nothing you make here is uploaded to us.
What size is the download?
A4 at print resolution: a one-page PDF, or a 3508 × 2480 PNG. Landscape or portrait. On US Letter paper, print it with “fit to page”.
Can I make one for each student?
Yes: change the name and download again. In Knola you don’t type names at all; each student’s certificate fills itself in from their record and is sent when they finish.
Why doesn’t my download have a certificate number or QR code?
Because a number only means something if someone can look it up. In Knola every certificate gets its own number and a check page, and the QR code opens it. A certificate made here would only look checkable, so we leave them off.
Can I show CPD hours or credits?
Yes. Beside the date you can print CPD hours, CPD points, CE credits, CEUs or Clock hours, or a label and value of your own. Add accreditation details, such as your provider number, in the small print.
What should a certificate of completion include?
Who issued it, what it is for, the student’s name, the course, the date, what it took (hours, CPD or an exam score), a signature, any accreditation and a certificate number with a way to check it. The checklist on this page covers each one.
How do certificates work in Knola?
You design the certificate on your course. When a student finishes (and passes the final exam, if there is one), Knola fills in their name, the course, the date and their score, emails it to them and makes a page anyone can open to check it’s real, with a PDF to download.
Do certificates cost extra in Knola?
No. Certificates are on every Knola plan, the free one too. Knola Pro adds a digital badge, adding it to LinkedIn in one click, and the Issued list where you rename, revoke, renew and remind.
